James E. Davis ("Jim") was born in 1934 in Barberton, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University and his Juris Doctor from the Cleveland Marshall School of Law. He is a member of the Akron and Ohio Bar Associations.

He served in the United States Army and was a Board Member of the Akron Bar and Akron Bar Foundation where he served a term as President. He is a musician and is active in local music organizations.
He has practiced before the PUCO, ICC , the FCC and the Ohio Supreme Court.
